Liposomes and their function in our body
NutriVital’s powdered liposomal supplements are unique in the world, but what does the word ‘liposomal’ actually mean? Liposomal’ comes from the word “liposome”. A liposome is a microscopic fat globule (made of phospholipids) that surrounds the food supplement and acts as a kind of protective shield. The liposome protects the food supplement from being broken down by stomach acid and the rest of the digestive system. The reason for this is that the body recognises the liposome as endogenous, i.e. as if it was produced by the body itself. As a result, it is not ‘attacked’ and broken down, but can travel unhindered through the digestive tract and reach the intestine safely.
It is then absorbed into the blood and transported as a whole directly to the body’s cells, where it is completely absorbed and the liposome fuses with the cell wall.
